Unemployment means a person of a specific age has no source of income and is not able to pay for his/her expenses. Unemployment is measured by the unemployment rate, which is the number of unemployed people in a labour force. India's rank in employment is 86th among other countries of the world. Last year in 2020, the unemployment percentage of India 6.66%, which means out of the hundred people in India 6.66 people are unemployed which is a very big number countrywide.
Of all aspects of social misery, nothing is so heartbreaking as unemployment. - Jane Addams
In India, unemployment has always been a major issue of concern for years. Seeing the unemployment rate chart we can conclude that we are not successful in reducing unemployment therefore, thousands of youths are left jobless and unemployed. During the post Liberalisation period, the government of India has taken qualitative measures to control and decrease the unemployment rate of India but transparently we can see that none of the schemes have worked so far. Looking at the graph we can see a slight decrease in unemployment but not for quite a long period. Numbers of schemes have been launched since we got independence in 1947 but we aren't wise enough to exploit those opportunities.

The problem with the people is that they seem to sit in their air-conditioned rooms and blame the government for their misdeeds. The government has tried and taken serious steps to overcome the problem of poverty but the finances didn't meet their end. Often people don't pay their income tax and blame the government for the shortage of finance. As stated in The Times of India by the hon. PM Narendra Modi on 06/01/2021 - only 1.5 crore (1.46 crore, to be precise) Indians pay Income tax. That is just a little over 1% of India's population and only 1.6% of the country's adult (over 20 years) population.
For getting rid of the problem of unemployment, with the government, we too will have to take qualitative steps. Like paying our taxes timely, if we’re capable of setting our business we shall employ the locals, awareness of education, modernization of old working techniques, etc. can help us in reducing unemployment.
